Dramatic Play
Grades Sk-Grade 2 | Wednesdays 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm | Bloor/Spadina
This fun-filled drama class gives young artists the opportunity to explore their creativity while developing new performance skills through drama games, improvisation, storytelling and character work, and singing. Working together as an ensemble, students will create an original play that they will perform for family and friends at the end of each term.

Annex Young Players Tuesdays
Grades 3-5 | Tuesdays, 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm | Ulster/Manning
In this class, students will be involved in the entire process of putting on a musical and will gain valuable experience in acting, singing, and dancing. Students will perform in two different musicals throughout the year—one in mid-December and a second in mid-May. Both productions will be performed twice in a professional theatre: once as a daytime performance for local schools and once as an evening performance for family and friends.
Over the years, we have witnessed tremendous growth in our students’ skills and confidence, the development of lasting friendships, and a strong sense of community. For this reason, we highly recommend that students commit to the full-year experience. However, for families who require greater flexibility, this course is divided into two terms, with students registering separately for each production.
TERM 1
Students will rehearse and perform a full musical that will be presented in mid-December. In addition, they will have the opportunity to perform in ACTE’s Winter Cabaret in November. Students are required to attend the dress rehearsal and all performances. We will celebrate the end of the term with a cast party during the final class.
Dates: Tuesdays, September 15 – December 8, 2026
Classes: 13 classes plus one full performance day.

Students will continue building their musical theatre skills while preparing a second, more advanced production to be performed in mid-May. There will be 17 classes plus one full performance day. (No classes on March 9 & 16, 2027.) Students are required to attend the dress rehearsal and all performances. We will conclude the term with a cast party during the final class.

This fun-filled class brings together siblings and friends across a wider age range, creating a dynamic and supportive theatre community.
Students will be involved in every stage of putting on a musical, gaining valuable experience in acting, dance choreography, vocal performance, and stage production. Throughout the year, students will perform in two full-scale musicals – one in mid-December and another in mid-May. Each production will be presented twice in a professional theatre: a daytime performance for local schools and an evening performance for family and friends.
Year after year, we see remarkable growth in our students’ confidence, performance skills, creativity, and friendships. Many students describe ACTE as a second family, and the relationships they build throughout the year become an important part of their theatre experience.
For this reason, we strongly encourage students to commit to the full-year program. However, we understand that families sometimes require greater flexibility, so the course is divided into three terms, allowing students to register by term if needed.

After-School walking shuttles available
Too busy to get your child to class? We have you covered!
Too busy to get your child to class? We have you covered! ACTE offers a walking service that picks up students after school from their local schools and brings them to their ACTE course. Please refer to your child’s course to see if the walking shuttle is available from their school to the class. You can also make a request to add your child’s school to the walking shuttle. We need a minimum of three students to offer this service.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes! No previous experience is necessary to join any ACTE program. Our courses welcome both complete beginners and experienced students. This makes for a great dynamic within our groups.
Our teacher to student ratio is 1:8.
There is always a singing and dancing component. If certain campers are not keen on singing or dancing, we will create a special role for them so that they are happy and comfortable with what they are doing.
We offer a walking shuttles from schools that are up to a 20 minute walk from the students’ local schools. Check to see which classes offer pick-ups from your child’s school
After reading the script we ask our students to list their top 3 roles. It gives us an idea of the types of characters that they are interested in. We try our best to fit them into one of those roles. At times we pick a role that they might not have chosen for themselves but that we think will challenge them further or will teach them about the importance of ensemble work. Everyone gets at least one role and a lot to do on stage. The main characters are always shared among several performers, each taking on the role for a few scenes. There are no “stars” or “leads” and everyone gets an opportunity to shine.
